It’s a Skybox for Kids! In our eighth year at The Crowne Plaza Invitational, the Foundation has expanded the Henry House Hideaway to be bigger and better. Hosted by the Henry House Foundation (J.J. Henry, PGA TOUR professional and TCU Alum), the venue is FREE and open to all children accompanied by an adult. Please join us behind the Colonial stone right of #10 fairway stocked with complimentary lunch (served at 11:30 a.m.), activities, T-shirts and a front row seat to all the golf action. The tent will be open Thursday through Sunday, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. We would like all children enjoying the tournament to stop by and enjoy the Hideaway, and are excited to especially welcome community groups like Lena Pope Home, Down Syndrome Partnership, A Wish with Things and so many others to join us our guests. If you know a worthy youth-based group that would be interested in attending the tournament and the Hideaway, please submit your recommendations.

ANOTHER SHOWDOWN SUCCESS!

Our 2nd Annual Texas Hold’em Charity Tournament raised great funds and provided loads of fun for friends of The Henry House and our friends at The Cystic Fibrosis Foundation

Saturday April 19th was the 2nd annual Showdown, a community event hosted by J.J. Henry and the Henry House Foundation for our friends at CF Foundation – Fort Worth! Thanks to our major sponsors and so many willing participants, the tournament was a hit and we had a sold out field of 128 players. Guests were welcomed to Firestone & Robertson Distillery on a beautiful Saturday morning to a Bloody Mary Breakfast hosted by 360 Catering and Tito’s Vodka.  The day had great fun going as players were knocked out, with opportunities to get your boots shined or try cigars from Silver Leaf Cigar Lounge, there was quite a buzz circulating! All players took their seats at 11 a.m. sharp and were welcomed by co-hosts J.J. Henry and Lance Federick (CFF Board Member) who officially kicked off the tournament with “cards in the air!”

All day the player field grew smaller but the excitement only increased. A dozen auction items stood by for participants, as well as raffles, a Royal Flush competition to win $75,000 cash and a final table Prop Bet. Players and friends heard great acoustic entertainment toward the end of the evening by Luke Wade along with a fabulous dinner buffet by Fort Worth’s own Chef Jon Bonnell. Congratulations to our winner Brandon Cooper and all of the top-18 finishers. We are excited to announce that, in addition to the fun that was had by all, over $25,000 was raised for the two Foundations!

The Henry House is able to continue our mission of raising funds and awareness for deserving community-based groups like CFF because of the generosity of so many people. We are so very grateful.

A great Texas Hold’em Tournament to raise funds for The Henry House and our friends at The Cystic Fibrosis Foundation

What a wonderful day we had at the first annual Showdown on Saturday April 20! Thanks to our major sponsors and so many willing participants, the tournament was a hit. Fort Worth, TX Magazine broadcast the event in the months leading up, lending a fantastic turnout of support. Guests were welcomed to Firestone & Robertson Distillery on a beautiful Saturday morning to a Bloody Mary Brunch hosted by our great friend Chef Jon Bonnell. With a coffee bar by Avoca Coffee, opportunities to get your boots shined or watch sporting events on the big screen with GoVision, there was quite a buzz circulating! All 110 players took their seats at 11 a.m. sharp and were welcomed by co-hosts JJ Henry and Lance Federick (CFF Board Member), who then introduced Mayor Betsy Price who officially kicked off the tournament with “cards in the air!”

All day the player field grew smaller but the excitement only increased. A dozen auction items stood by for participants, as well as raffles, a Royal Flush competition to win a new Mercedes CLS provided by Park Place Mercedes, a dessert vault with poker themed treats donated by Red Jett Sweets. Players and friends heard great acoustic entertainment but the highlight of the day was hearing from our dear friend Paige from the CFF Board who is a CF patient and truly put the purpose of the day in perspective. Great events are fun, but we were aiming for FUNDS raised!

As spouses and non-playing arrived later in the day for a Waters Coastal Cuisine dinner by Chef Bonnell, the final tables drew crowds! Congratulations to our winner Robert Higgins and all of the top-20 finishers. We are excited to announce that in addition to the fun that was had by all, the Henry House raised over $40,000 for the two Foundations!
